MILES MORRIS and MALCOLM WELFORD

Based on both sides of the United States and in the United Kingdom, Morris & Welford operates as specialist consultants and brokers for collectors serving the worldwide historic motor car community.

Miles and Malcolm had over 25 years of combined service in the auction industry before establishing Morris & Welford, LLC during which time they were involved with over $100 million in sales of collectors’ motor cars. The company operates exclusively at the high end market for buyers and sellers of historic motor cars.

MILES MORRIS

Miles hails from a famous UK motoring family and is a third generation collector and enthusiast. His grandfather raced cars at Brooklands prior to World War I, while his father Martin Morris was well known for historic racing particularly in a works D-Type Jaguar and an ERA. Miles’ brother David is also well known as both a driver and owner of his own race preparation firm.

Miles completed a Business Studies diploma at Bristol Polytechnic in the early 80s and then worked in the sporting gun trade for a few years before moving to London to work for a sports promotion company and then an entrepreneur. In 1989 he joined Christie’s car department and helped establish them at the very forefront of the international market for collectors cars. By 1995 he was head of department in London at which time he transferred to Beverly Hills to expand their US presence and market leadership. In 1999 he moved to the East Coast and from June 2000 until November 2003 he was worldwide head of Christie’s International Motor Cars.

Miles is an active participant in the motoring scene and has competed in Europe in a C-Type Jaguar, an ERA and a Frazer Nash. While in America he has enjoyed events such as the Colorado Grand 1,000 mile tour in such diversified cars as a 1913 Mercer Raceabout, a 1953 Aston Martin DB3S and a 1959 Ferrari California Spyder. He has judged at many international classic car events including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (where he also serves as a member of the selection committee), the Greenwich Concours in Connecticut, Louis Vuitton events in New York and London and the Amelia Island event in Florida. Miles has been a frequent guest to discuss the car market on the Today Show and CNBC’s Power Lunch as well as appearing on various documentaries.

Miles lives in Connecticut with his wife Amy and three children.

MALCOLM WELFORD

Malcolm has been involved with historic motor cars all his life, having grown up watching racing in England in the 1960s with his father at Goodwood, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and various club circuits.

Following school he graduated with a combined Honours degree in Economics from the University of Manchester and then worked in the City of London before joining a UK car auction business in 1988. In 1995 he joined Christie’s auction house as a Senior Specialist in the UK offices of their international motor car department before moving to California.

Malcolm is an active member of various car clubs and motoring organizations and has competed on the Mille Miglia, Tour Auto, Marakesh Historic Rally and other prestigious car events.

Malcolm now lives in California with his wife Christina and two children.

MARK DONALDSONMARK DONALDSON

Mark has grown up around the motor business which has in turn fuelled his passion for historically important motor cars and the various events that surround the movement.

Upon completion of an Honours degree at The University of the West of England in Bristol he worked for his father prior to joining Christie’s auction house in 2002. Initially based in London, this was followed by a two year spell in Los Angeles where he oversaw their headline sale in Monterey.

Mark now runs Morris & Welford UK Ltd from rural Hampshire in the South of England. The office space, situated ideally in terms of airport and motorway access, is located at the Phoenix Green Garage in Hartley Wintney, known to many as ‘the spiritual home of the VSCC’ (Vintage Sports-Car Club) since the much-heralded club was founded there back in 1934.

Mark is an avid Motorsport fan of all disciplines and holds an FIA International licence. He has competed at a National and International level garnering much success and events participated include the Goodwood Festival of Speed, 25hrs of Thunderhill, 6hrs of Vallelunga and the Colorado Grand. In 2007 he fulfilled his dream of driving in the infamous Nürburgring 24hrs.

Mark lives in Surrey with his wife Amelia and their daughter.
